Rod builds long-term relationships with clients, their management and boards of directors as a trusted advisor on strategic and general matters. Valued for his results-oriented approach and responsiveness, he advises clients on a variety of complex cross-border capital markets and corporate transactions, including:

  • take-over bids;
  • mergers and acquisitions;
  • initial public offerings;
  • project finance; and
  • cross-border debt and equity offerings.

He is also regularly called upon to advise in respect of public company governance matters and other special situations, such as internal board investigations and proxy fights.

His clients include companies listed on the New York Stock Exchange, the Nasdaq Stock Market, the Toronto Stock Exchange and other international markets, and span various industries, including mining, royalty and streaming, forest products, merchant banking and financial services.

Rod has been an adjunct professor at the University of British Columbia, Faculty of Law since 2010, teaching Advanced Corporate Law - Advising Public Companies.

He has been recognized by various industry publications, including being recognized by IFLR1000 – Guide to the World’s Leading Financial Law Firms as a highly regarded practitioner and Best Lawyers in Canada in the area of securities law.
