Sangra Moller LLP has broad and significant experience in the natural resources sector including acting as counsel to some of the largest forestry companies in British Columbia .  We provide general legal advice and assist in the acquisition, disposition, negotiation and drafting of commercial agreements, environmental compliance and various administrative and regulatory matters.  We also advise our clients with respect to their environmental reporting and disclosure obligations in connection with public issues of debt and equity securities.  The firm provides legal services necessary to the acquisition and disposition of natural resource properties and facilities including timber, timber tenures and timberlands; to obtaining needed access to natural resources across private or government-owned lands; to selling the manufactured products; to financing all those activities, and to resolving the disputes which arise from them.

  • Pacifica Papers Inc. in connection with its $113 million disposition of a partial interest in hydro electric assets.
     
  • Mercer International Inc. in connection with the implementation of a new $62 million biofuel energy project at its Celgar operations and a ten-year energy sales agreement with B.C. Hydro for over $200 million.
     
  • Conifex Inc. in connection with its acquisition of the St. James Sawmill and the Mackenzie Sawmill.
     
  • Mercer International Inc. in connection with its US$225 million acquisition of the Celgar Pulp Mill.
     
  • Trimble Resources Corporation in connection with its $30 million disposition of its oil and gas interests to Occidental Petroleum.
     
  • MFC Bancorp Ltd. in connection with its acquisition of Kasese Cobalt Company Limited and its affiliates.  
     
  • A British Columbia based forestry company in connection with its $144 million acquisition of the sawmills and Crown tenures from Pacific Forest Products Limited.
